Texans cut receiver for 2nd time this week

Conley garnered 22 receptions for 323 yards and two touchdowns last season.

Wide receiver Chris Conley entered the week as a member of the Houston Texans.

Now that the week is over, he’s no longer a member of the team, although it was a bit more back-and-forth than that implies.

Conley was initially released by the Texans on Tuesday as they trimmed their roster to 52 players before the start of the 2022 NFL season.

However, they re-signed him on Thursday after a bunch of the players who made the roster ended up going on injured reserve.

It sounded like all is well that ends well.

However, then the team decided to sign tight end O.J. Howard, who had been cut by the Buffalo Bills earlier in the week.

To make room for him on the roster, Conley was cut once more, just one day after he came back to the squad.

It’s a tough break for Conley, who was hoping to improve on his numbers from last season, his first with Houston.

He garnered 22 receptions for 323 yards and two touchdowns.

Before that stint, Conley spent two years with the Jacksonville Jaguars and four with the Kansas City Chiefs.

His best season came in 2o19 when he caught 47 passes for 775 yards and five touchdowns.
